System-minded, dot-connecting design.

For over two decades I’ve distilled complexity into stable systems. I’m currently a staff product designer at GitLab where I merge visual design, accessibility, and frontend proficiency with the design system and DevSecOps platform.

Make connections

While at GitLab I’ve redesigned the company logo, product iconography, and illustration; co-led bringing design tokens and dark mode to the design system and product UI; led visual design and accessibility learning tracks; and collaborated across many teams, including brand, marketing, engineering, and growth and development. This is what connecting the dots means to me — drawing the lines between teams, tools, and systems to create one cohesive experience.

Design philosophy

I’m a work in progress and eager learner. I think in systems and design in moments. Two of my favorite tools are constraints and metaphors. I enjoy UI design as much as writing CSS, finding beauty in both the visual and technical layers. Creating documentation is a way to clone conviction. I think “product design” is a peculiar job title, but also would rather not be called a “hybrid.” People before process. If I’ve left something better than I found it, I know I’m on the right path.
